On their final day of school February 16th, before their week-long winter break, Perkins School children enjoyed an early morning assembly celebrating the 100th day of the school year.

Highlights of the event included:
• 100 colorful tethered helium balloons released inside the packed gymnasium. Students and staff sang the Perkins School 100-Day song and counted as the balloons were released.
• Kindergartner Killian Odell, the 100th student to enter the gym for the assembly. received a 100th-day medallion necklace made by Courtney Dentel who teaches Pre-K through second grade visual art classes at Perkins and Lincoln Schools.
• Wayne County Humane Society Executive Director Mark Plyter received 149 items to benefit the shelter donated by students and staff.
“Perkins School has been a real supporter of the Humane Society and all of the animals we are entrusted with and we so appreciate it,’’ Plyter said later.
Additionally, as part of the 100th day observance:
• Perkins School students made 100th Day hats
• Participated in a Mr. Czerkas Scavenger Hunt. Pictures of Perkins School Principal Pete Czerkas were hidden throughout the school and once found by students, they were put on a bulletin board.
