Two hundred fourteen grades 4-12 Newark Central School District musicians filled the Newark High School gymnasium with music March 7th at the “Cavalcade of Bands” concert.
The gym was packed out for the event that featured:
The NHS Concert Band and Wind Ensemble, conducted by Robert Humphrey, instrumental music teacher at NHS, each performing two selections.
• The Kelley School 4th and 5th Grade Bands, conducted by Kelley School instrumental music teacher Cynthia Briggs, each performing two selections.
• The Sixth and combined Seventh and Eighth Grade Bands from NMS, conducted by NMS instrumental music teacher Rebekah Valerio, also each performed two selections.
“Wow, what an amazing night,” said Briggs, who is also the Newark Central School District Music Leader. “To be able to see all of our instrumental musicians all in one place, all performing at one concert shows what an amazing program we have. We are so proud of every single musician, from our first years to senior year!”
The grades 4-12 “Festival of Song” Choral Concert will be held March 14th at 7 p.m. in the NHS auditorium.
