Festival of Song District Choir Concert

Newark Central School District’s 4th through 12th grade vocal musicians delighted the packed Newark High School auditorium as the seven choirs and choruses beautifully raised their voices in song at the 2025 Festival of Song March 11th.

Music was performed by:

• The Kelley School Fourth Grade Chorus

• The Kelley School Fifth Grade Chorus

Both were directed by Ethan Bast, the choral and general music instructor at Kelley School.

• The Newark Middle School Sixth Grade Chorus

• The NMS 7th Grade Chorus

• The NMS 8th Grade Chorus

These were directed by NMS vocal music teacher Melissa Viscusi.

• The Newark High School Treble Choir

• The NHS Chamber Choir

These were directed by NHS vocal music teacher Kate Flock.

The final song of the night,” What the World Needs Now Is Love, Sweet Love” was performed by the combined choruses and choirs.

The Kelley School choruses were accompanied by Kay Oosterling and the NMS and NHS choruses and choirs were accompanied by Mary Lou Bonnell.

Flock thanked those attending the “Festival of Song.”

She said the event is always so special because it highlights the musical progression of students over their years of singing in the NCSD choirs and choruses.
