More than 40 Perkins School families attended and enjoyed the one-hour “Popsicles With the Principals” events on the Pre-K-2 School’s south side playground August 18th and 22nd.
First and second graders, their parents and siblings were invited to attend the Aug. 18th event and Pre-K and Kindergarten pupils, parents and siblings were invited to attend the one Aug. 22nd.
Principal Pete Czerkas thought it would be a great way for students and parents to meet Perkins’ new administrative team - himself and Assistant Principal Mary Kate Wilbert.
Czerkas, who served as Assistant Principal at Lincoln and Perkins Elementary Schools since last November, became Perkins Principal July 14th when Principal Rhonda Underhill became Assistant Superintendent for Instruction in the Lyons Central School District a day later.
Wilbert, who had been a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA), who supported the school community in addressing climate, safety, instructional and social-emotional goals with the Pre-K through second grade students at the Ivan Green Primary School in the East Irondequoit School District for the last three school years, was hired to replace Czerkas as AP. She began working here August 15th.
“Popsicles:” event attendees also got to see some of their teachers, teacher assistants and classmates, as well as enjoy having a cool popsicle and being able to play on the playground.
Wilbert, who is also AP at Lincoln School, noted students and parents will also have a chance September 1st to meet their teachers and visit their classrooms at both Perkins and Lincoln Schools. The “Meet and Greet” event at Lincoln School will be held from 3 to 4 p.m.; the Perkins event will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m..
