Newark Rotarians helped pack food bags

Four Newark Rotarians helped pack bags of food during after school hours at Newark High School February 6th that will be given to 40 Newark families to through the upcoming winter break when there is no school Feb. 17th through the 21st.

They included Rotary Club of Newark President Jim Weiler, Chuck Waterman, President-Elect, David Hannan and Holly Kreuser.

Kim Howell, NHS Community Schools Coordinator, who oversees the Newark Reds Emergency Food Pantry located in the NHS Library/Community Schools office, worked alongside the Rotarians.

Families that will be given the food were referred to her by the counseling offices at all five Newark Central School District schools

Howell said two bags of food would be given to each family.

Those without transportation will be delivered by workers from SteadyWork of Wayne County. Others will receive them at NHS.

“It’s enough food to feed a family of four for two full days,’’ Howell said gratefully noting

The Rotary Club of Newark is one of four sponsors that are providing food not only for this endeavor but ongoing to the food pantry.
