Colburn park outing was a blast!

Kelley Elementary School students and staff and some Newark Central School District Administrators, Board of Education members and other district staff who were available to accept the invitation to attend, enjoyed a late morning, early afternoon Newark Pilots baseball game at Colburn Park in Newark June 13th where they watched the Pilots decisively defeat the Geneva Red Wings 6-1.

Everyone had a blast.

Students were able to run the bases. Get autographs from players and more and enjoy lunch and snacks of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and popcorn.

Ten Kelley School students sang the National Anthem and Kelley School secretary Dina Calapiz threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

“The Newark Pilots secured a decisive 6-1 victory against the Geneva Red Wings in a thrilling game that left fans cheering and spirits high. Kelley School attended this exciting matchup as part of a school-wide field trip, with over 500 staff and students, along with many families, joining in the fun-filled day,” Principal Nate Goodness said.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to Bob Ohmann and the entire Pilots organization for providing such an extraordinary experience for our students,” he continued. “ The players from both teams were phenomenal, graciously signing numerous autographs and creating lasting memories for all attendees.

“The event featured a special performance of the National Anthem by Grace Ganster, Sara Springett, Dahlia Dusharm, Gracie King, Audrinna Marriott, Yatzary Mendoza, Maddie Stanton, Serenity Wild, Melis Soria and Abrielle Kemp. Dina Calapiz had the honor of throwing the ceremonial first pitch.”

“Throughout the game, there were various on-field activities that engaged the audience and added to the excitement. The third inning saw the crowd participating in a spirited wave, while students had the chance to run the bases on both the home and visitor team sides during the fourth and fifth innings. In the seventh inning, the mascot and team led the audience in a fun rendition of the YMCA song.

Everyone enjoyed a classic ballpark lunch along with some popcorn, making the experience even more enjoyable. The frequent mascot appearances and autograph sessions with players from both teams added to the delight of the students and their families.
