The proposed 2024-25 Newark Central School District budget passed May 21st by a vote of 345 to 160.
The bus purchase proposition passed by a vote of 375 to 134.
Also in the election, three, three-year terms on the Board of Education were won by incumbent Matthew Burgess with 318 votes, newcomer Katie Pullen with 271 votes and incumbent Julie Nevelizer with 268 votes.
Incumbent Scott Verbridge received 241 votes and newcomer James Cavallaro, Jr. received 121 votes.
This morning, Superintendent Susan Hasenauer thanked everyone that ran for a seat on the BOE and congratulated the three winners. The new, three-year terms on the BOE begin July 1st, 2024.
“I want to thank Julie Nevelizer, who has served as President of the Board of Education this last year and Matt Burgess for their commitment to quality education and their willingness to each serve a second, three-year term. My thanks also go to Katie Pullen for her desire to serve on the Board for the first time. I look forward to working with all of you in the years ahead.”
Hasenauer also expressed great appreciation for the ongoing support of the NCSD educational program by district voters and thanked everyone that voted.
