Two weeks on her new job as Newark Central School Districtās new Director of Transportation Tracy Johnson says sheās āloving it.ā No stranger to the business of busing, Johnson began here October 10th after being Operations Manager for 10 years at Birnie Bus Service in Port Bryon. Before that she worked in the Clyde-Savannah School District for 15 years, finishing there as a senior bus driver.

Johnson, who lives in North Rose, is replacing Sheila Ditmar who retired July 31st after 9 years as Director of Transportation for the NCSD and who has served as Interim Director of Transportation since then. Helping Johnson to get acclimated to her new job, Dittmarās last day here will be October 31st.
āThe Newark Central School District is excited to have Tracy join us. With her vast experiences both in public schools and private transportation, she brings a wide range of transportation knowledge to the position,ā said Ed Gnau, Assistant Superintendent for Business.
Johnsonās duties on her new job are vast and include dispatching, routing, training, scheduling, answering tons of phone calls and even being a substitute bus driver if need be. She currently oversees 42 employees in the department _ 22 bus drivers, 11 monitors, 6 substitute drivers and 2 mechanics.
āIām actually loving it,āā she said Oct. 24th. āIāve been working for a contract busing company and have wanted to get back into a school system. The staff here is great and has been very welcoming.ā
A graduate of Cato-Meridian High School, Johnson and her husband of 33 years, John Johnson, who works at Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls, have three grown sons.
